Where it All Started

A Love Affair With Minis

Amanda grew up around her grandparents farm where they raised miniature horses, cattle and other livestock. She’s always had a passion for cows and horses. RJ honestly, did not have a farming background. He was a true “city boy.” However, his love for Amanda brought him to living on manicured farm with more animals than he could have ever imagined. Their children joined 4-H and showed rabbits, chickens, turkeys, goats, lambs and market steers. So, the love for cattle became apparent in the kids also. One day Amanda asked if she could have a miniature cow and of course RJ agreed. They BOTH fell in love with the little creatures and began looking for ways to add them to their farm.

Why Purchase Micro and Mini Cows:

1 They are very docile animals. Ours love to be brushed and hugged. They are easier to handle than the typical cow.
2 They require less land and space to graze than a normal size cow. They can live on as little as a half acre of land.
3 They do not eat as much hay and grain as a normal cow. Nor do they drink as much water as their full-size version.
4 Their size makes them less intimidating to people. Miniature cows range from
500- 750 pounds where a normal cow is typically 1200-1500 pounds. Also, miniature cows are defined as being no taller than 42 inches in height at the hip.
5 They are fun and playful. They also provide a type of unconditional love and companionship that a dog or domesticated pet would have. They recognize their owners. They do tend to get lonely and long for the company of another cow. So, it is nice to purchase more than one so they will thrive better.

Ways to Purchase:

There are a couple ways to purchase calves from Wynn Farm. You can message us directly through our website or Facebook messenger regarding a specific calf or cow you are interested in. We can come to an agreed on price and we arrange pickup or delivery to you. Another way is to bid on them via one of our online auctions. First, simply register to bid. Then, bid on the calf or calves you are interested in and the top bidder wins. We use an online auction service to facilitate the bidding. The link to each auction will be posted on both our website and our Facebook page prior to each auction. Lastly, there will be an availability of straws for purchase from our bulls. Those will be listed on our website as they become available.

Health:

All of our cattle are wormed and up to date on their shots. They are given both grain and hay daily. Bottle calves are given 3 pints of milk replacer twice a day until at least two months of age. At that point, they must be eating 2 pounds of starter feed and drinking water. We are willing to sell bottle calves if you are willing to continue the same feeding regimen to ensure their health. We can also hold them with a security deposit until a buyer is ready for them at a certain age. We can send videos, pictures and do FaceTime video as they grow. Upon the time of sale, we will provide a take home care package to get you started caring for your calf.

We keep cameras on our fields and in our barns in order to monitor our herd and for their own safety in times of bad weather, etc. We also take extra precaution with our expecting heifers. As the birthing time nears, we prepare and pay close attention to make sure we are there for the birth. We use a Moocall Calving Sensor that is 95% accurate on birthing prediction timing. It alerts us via text to our phones when the heifer is within two hours of delivering the calf. We also keep a veterinarian on call for our cattle needs. Their health and safety are our priority. We are here to answer any question you may have to the best of our knowledge.

LEVITICUS 22:20
Do not present an animal with defects, because the LORD will not accept it on your behalf.
